Become the Creator of Your Day (Before Your Day Creates You)
Aug 04, 2026Have you ever noticed how some days feel like you are in the flow of life and other days you’re playing “whack a mole” hitting problems that are popping up?
Yep. Me too.
Lately, I've caught myself slipping. My mornings became a little more rushed. I was still meditating and moving, but the gratitude journaling turned into... well... last week’s news. Before long, I wasn't creating my day anymore, I was reacting to it.
So I went back to my basics. I pulled out a brand-new Lifeswerve Journal (yes, I actually use the one we created!) and started writing every morning again. I visualize the woman I want to be (am). I meditate. I move my body—even if it's just a walk or a stretch. Then I write. Not pages of perfection. Just what I'm grateful for, how I want to show up today, and what I want to create, who I want to reach out to. Something magical happens when you put pen to paper. Your brain stops wandering through yesterday's problems and starts building today’s possibilities.
I've realized that we don't accidentally create an amazing life. We intentionally create amazing days. One day becomes a week. A week becomes a month. Months become years. Before you know it, you've built a life that actually feels like yours—not because everything went according to plan (ha... wouldn't that be nice?), but because you decided who you wanted to be regardless of what showed up. There will always be surprises. There will always be peaks, valleys, plot twists, and those moments where you wonder if you’re going to go a day in serenity. But your power isn't found in controlling life. It's found in choosing how you'll create your perception of it.
One of my favourite books is The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn. Although it was written almost a century ago and in a completely different version of English, its message still feels fresh: our thoughts, words, expectations and beliefs shape the life we experience. Whether you call it God, the Universe, Source, energy, or just possibility, there is something incredibly freeing about doing your part each day—thinking intentionally, living gratefully, taking inspired action—and then letting go of the outcome. That's where the magic begins. We don't have to force life. We simply have to participate in creating it.
So tomorrow morning, before you grab your phone, grab your future instead. Spend ten minutes visualizing. Meditate. Move your body. Write down what you're grateful for. Decide how you want to feel. Focus on your health, your relationships, your wealth, your purpose and your self-expression. Then let the day unfold.
Because the most extraordinary life isn't created someday.
It's created today – today is all we really have.
