The Quiet Power of Being Human

Feb 10, 2026

Some days you feel like you’re crushing life. And some days… you’re just crushing coffee and negotiating with yourself to get out of bed. This has been a stretch of days like these for me. I’ve been tired. Not “need a nap” tired—more like the slow, sneaky kind that comes from running a business, loving your people, being the responsible one, and quietly putting your own needs on the back burner. To be clear: no one did this to me. This is my doing. I know that. Mid-life clarity has a way of lovingly calling ourselves out.

On one of those mornings where staying in bed felt like a perfectly reasonable life choice, I did the thing anyway. I showed up. I meditated for a full 60 minutes (2 different times TWICE), did some breathwork, and dragged my slightly weary self down the hall to my office. I wasn’t feeling on top of the world. I wasn’t glowing. I was just… human. And here’s where life surprised me—in three different meetings, with three different people, who didn’t really know me, I was told some version of the same thing: You’re a good human. You’re kind. That energy radiates.

Now listen, when the universe lines up a message like that, I pay attention. Because what struck me wasn’t pride—it was relief. I didn’t have to be “on.” I didn’t have to be perfect or powerful or inspirational. I just had to be present.

Another very important learning – how great are these people to say something kind to me? That’s a lesson for us all – we never know how being kind can light up another person’s day!

Apparently, kindness doesn’t require endless energy. It doesn’t demand that we have it all figured out. Sometimes it just shows up quietly, even when we feel wrung out and unfinished.

This is something I think we forget in mid-life, especially when we’re craving change. We think transformation requires fireworks—big leaps, bold declarations, shiny confidence. But often, the most beautiful shifts happen in the smallest moments: how we listen, how we treat people, how we breathe before we react It’s a reminder that being open, tired, imperfect, and real isn’t weakness—it’s connection. And connection changes everything.

So if this week you’re not feeling like your best self, let that be okay. You don’t need to feel on top of the world to make a difference in it. You might be more impactful than you realize—just by being you, showing up, and letting your humanity do the talking.

Sometimes, that’s more than enough.
